Nature vs. Fear...

I think we forget or we're just plain ignorant of the fact that once upon a time the church and state were the same entity. Therefore many of the rules in religious scriptures are more control and fear based than spiritually based. I think we should begin to listen to our human nature rather than our fear nature. My friend Stephanie forwarded this little email and I thought I'd share it.

Why can't I own a Canadian?

In her radio show, Dr Laura Schlesinger said that, as an observant
Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus
18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance.

The following response is an open letter to Dr. Laura, written by a US man,
and posted on the Internet. It's funny, as well as informative:

Dear Dr. Laura:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I
have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that
knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend
the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that
Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination ... End of
debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other
elements of God's Laws and how to follow them.

1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and
female, provided they are from neighboring nations. A friend of mine
claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you
clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in
Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair
price for her?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her
period of Menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how
do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a
pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors.
They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus
35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated
to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?

6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an
abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than
homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there
'degrees' of abomination?

7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I
have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading
glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room
here?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair
around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.
19:27. How should they die?

9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes
me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two
different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments
made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also
tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go
to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them?
Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family
affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy
considerable expertise in such matters, so I'm confident you can help.
Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your adoring fan.

Dept. Of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education
University of Virginia PS (It would be a damn shame if we couldn't own a
Canadian)

POLITRICKS I TELL YOU!

It takes more energy to frown than it does to smile. Therefore we (US citizens) are wasting too much energy on a negative subject. Compare that to sustainable living. We use up all our resources and end up in war and back at square one. (Gotta feed the weapons industry somehow...) As a Mass Media lover and critic I like to ruffle feathers here and there on purpose. I know I will be hated or followed, but I do it because I love the gimmick. I love to play with peoples minds, I love to produce controversy...my friend Bejan and I call ourselves "Puppet Masters." Politics work this way. I call it "Pollywood." Fake politics we believe are real. Arizona really isn't as racist as the spotlight that shines on them. From my observations, this is what the Gov. want's to distract you from:

1.A horrible economy that still isn't taking off, especially in the red states.
2.An expensive war(s) that has no end (and not in the media for obvious reasons)
3.A HUGE oil spill that has all of sudden disappeared from the media without a detailed explanation of the consequences. I've been following it mostly online.
4. An education system that doesn't work on many levels...

So a republican or democrat media hot shot (aka spin doctor) sits down with a production team (just like in Hollywood) and says lets ruffle some feathers. Just like in the the 1997 film "Wag the Dog." I LOVE this film for its intelligence!

Smart fucks I tell you!

I'm here in Mexico and the news show more detail and info. than American news. All my family members say "God, Americans waste so much energy on hate..." The neighbor who works in the tourism industry says "The US is known across the world as being imperialist and violent, everything they do is aggressive and separatist..." They love the tourists, so please don't get confused. It's the government that's frowned upon. Aren't we the government though?

The law is basically making racial and status profiling legal. Did you know that Mexico has a HUGE Jewish, German (Corona is owned by Germans), English (study Belize), Russian, African, Swedes, Chinese and who knows what other cultures are included in the population? The difference is that everyone fuses their cultures. Have you ever seen a Chinese person speak Spanish? It's trippy! lol This includes the rest of the Americas. Kind of like the US right? Ask a Peruvian about their Japanese population and have some of their amazing Sushi/Ceviche. I've learned that whenever there's a massive immigration from one country; Guam, Philipines, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Samoa, Hawaii, Vietnam, Korea... Just to name a few. The US is messing with that country HARDCORE! Here's a link where you can scroll and see where the US dollar circulates. Meaning that these countries were so indebted to the US they switched their currency. Conquered!

A (White American) friend of mine once asked me "I hear all my Mexican friends say that Mexico is great and its beautiful, the women are hot, the food is great... So if Mexico is so great, why do people leave and come to the states?"

So I answer "Imagine that Bush/Republicans ruled the U.S. for 80 years? That's how you get the current Mexican economy. If you own a business, you're golden!..."

Money talks in crooked politics. And guess who helps with Mexican Politics? Yup the U.S. of A. And guess who has an immigration deal with Mexico in exchange for NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement)? Ding ding ding! US of A. This isn't an Anti USA blog, cause I'm an American and I LOVE the States including all my friends and family in it, I really do. I just hate politricks!

Dance Ninjas of the Future!

Remember watching "Breakin" in 1984, Ozone, Special K, Turbo, Ice-T, living the 80's bboy, popper, locker hype and then all of a sudden it was dead? Well if you were a true bboy you knew it wasn't dead and that it just went back to being underground. I danced in the 80's and danced in the 90's. It was one of the few things that kept me sane. We used to dance with card board boxes taped together with my best friend Georgie and Peps. Jorgie had a brother with a red Nissan mini truck with inky rims and a snug top. He had the sickest beats and a PHAT sound system! He would park it in reverse towards the park and we would bust out to LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, Afrika Bambata, James Brown, Kraftwerk, The Art of Noise, and of course Michael Jackson. I had to be sneaky cause my mom used to spank me for doing head spins because she thought I might break my neck. We were always competing for the best moves and we always had a blast. Fast forward to the present, history repeats itself with Step Up. Apparently Jon Chu lived under a rock at that time. Nothing is really going on in Cupertino, CA when he was growing up since it's a middle class town unless he wanted to learn Modern Jazz in tights lol. All the good stuff was happening in East San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland and the spaces in between. He missed it, but it let him be a nerd which led him to the USC film school where he won several awards and got into the William Morris talent Agency for being talented and now he is one of the top Directors/storytellers in the world. He directed Step Up 2 and 3. I think they're great movies with cheesy story lines, but I don't think that any dance movie can be taken serious. All we care about is the dancing and the hot chics. That's it. Like a looonnnggg music video. So this cat, takes all his new found knowledge and starts LXD, Legion of Extraordinary Dancers. The dance culture is BURSTING! Information is traveling through dance movies, "So You Think You can Dance" shows, YouTube clips of amazing dancers, World of Dance and other competitions.
It's a breathe of fresh air to see the next generation building upon this culture/subculture of the best dancing I've ever seen! Support your dancers for they inspire us all!
